health Back to content Young girls in science Linking hearing aids and stress We supported young girls in pursuing science as part of Girls’ Day in Science – a national day to inspire more young people to choose an education in the field of science and technology. Since women continue to be underrepresented in Danish sci- ence, this event aims to inspire girls in primary and secondary education to consider a future within science. Eriksholm has measured pupil dilation to determine stress caused by sounds and the effort of listening, as well as stud- ied heart rate both in the lab and the real-world, the results of which demonstrate the importance of effective hearing aid technology and correct fitting. The lab study discovered that periods of noise, especially when listening to speech, increase stress and demonstrates that noise reduction from, in this case, Oticon Opn hearing aids delivers quality sound which helps reduce a person’s stress reaction.
